Mobile WiMax in Ukraine is "frozen"
17.11.2008
MMDS-Ukraine telecommunications company has decided to freeze the project of mobile WiMax network development in view of the current economic situation in the country.

Let us remember that MMDS-Ukraine has the sole license for all regions in the range of 2.5–2.7 GHz. Meanwhile the project is supposed to be frozen until April-May next year. However, no final decision has yet been drawn, according to i.

The operator has even terminated the signed equipment contract with Motorola, and now harmonization of the financial plan by the end of the year is being agreed.

The business plan of the project, as stated earlier, involves investment of about $ 120 million. Earlier the information was received from the company's management that the main operator's investor is SKM (System Capital Management). However, now it is claimed as a minnow with a share of 25%.
