Mobile communication Operator company UMC (MTS-Ukraine TM) and Golden Telecom company have renewed direct traffic exchange after signing a so-called compromise agreement.
The conflict lasting for several years have finally been resolved not without the participation of the branch regulatory – the NCRC. At the same time the sources of the edition in both companies emphasize that GT have not managed to lower the rates for access to MTS-Ukraine network, thus missing the initiative in resolving the conflict.
Let us remember that early last year GT demanded from MTS-Ukraine (then UMC) lower interconnect rates from UAH 0.5 per minute to UAH 0.3. Finally the companies have agreed upon UAH 0.45 per minute. Two agreements on mutual settlements in the networks were signed between MTS-Ukraine and Golden Telecom. However, in late December 2007 MTS company declared the intentions to dissolve the service agreement with GT. The latter petitioned the Kyiv Economic court to protect its rights. The court passed a judgement about interlocutory injunction and forbade MTS to evade from performing contractual obligations. Yet MTS did not follow this judgement and early this year unilaterally blocked point-to-point connection with Golden Telecom network in the largest cities of the country.
