Delo Newspaper ("Business") has rated world countries according to the degree of Internet penetration. Ukraine, where one out of five people has access to the network, occupies only the 64th, the last, position.
In the opinion of the edition, the most Internet-advanced country in the world is the Netherlands. Over 90 % of the population of this European state are active users of world-wide web.
The first five in the rating are Norway, Iceland, Canada and Australia. At least eight out of ten people in these countries are active Internet users.
In Ukraine the use of world-wide web has not become common practice yet. The number of those who are officially connected to the Internet is about 22 %. With this indicator our country is at the same level as Mexico.
Among European countries only Albania and Serbia drop behind Ukraine. And among the CIS countries Ukraine occupies the third position. Only in Russia and Belarus there are more Internet users.
Let us remember that recently the Internet-audience in Ukraine was increasing by 10-20 % a month on average, and since the beginning of 2000, according to the data of internetworldstats.com, the number of Internet users in Ukraine has own 490 times.
