Volia intends to remove the Russian channels in Kyiv on November 1
17.10.2008
Volia telecommunications company, whose subscribers make up 80 % of the capital inhabitants, on November 1 intends to remove the Russian TV channels from their packages. This has been reported by the press service of the company.

Let us remember that on October 1, 2008 the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine obliged the providers to stop broadcasting foreign channels whose content requires adaptation according to legal regulations  of Ukraine.

In particular, this concerned the foreign channels which do not pay for advertising in the territory of Ukraine, do not comply with the laws on copyright and neighbouring rights, as well as on public morality. The list of unadapted television channels includes four Russian ones: the First Channel. World Network, REN TV, RTR-Planet and TVCI (International version of TV-Center).

The channels have already been excluded from the packages of other cable operators in Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhya, Lviv, and Uman.

Volia company is a telecommunications services provider offering access to a package of cable television programs under the TM of Volia Premium TV, and Internet access under Volia Broadband TM. Cable television service of the operator is used by about 500 thousand people, and Internet access service – by about 200 thousand. The company operates in Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi and Alchevsk.
